Why see Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra - Mozart Symphony No. 36 and Dvorak Symphony No. 6?

Historic Vienna Philharmonic

A special opportunity is in store for American audiences, with some of the finest musicians from the historic orchestra of Mozart's homeland visiting these shores to perform the master's music and more. Andris Nelsons conducts the touring musicians of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, in an evening featuring a marvelous performance Mozart's bright and festive Symphony No. 36 in C major, the "Linz" symphony, written in the city of Linz in 1783, supposedly composed in just a few days while the composer stopped off on his return to Vienna.

Audiences will also be treated to a rendition of Dvorak's Symphony No. 6 in D major, composed nearly a century later in 1880 specifically for the Vienna Philharmonic orchestra and originally dedicated to its conductor Hans Richter. Be sure not to miss this rare chance to witness one of the canon's all-time masterworks performed by the ensemble it was intended for.
