Balanchine classics and a Ratmansky world premiere
Miami City Ballet brings together two George Balanchine ballet classics as well as a world premiere from the renowned Alexei Ratmansky for Into the Magic City! The program features Balanchine's magnificent Serenade and Tarantella, while Ratmansky's work is created in honor of Miami City Ballet's founder, Toby Lerner Ansin.
George Balanchine's Serenade, set to Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings in C, was born from his teaching at the School of American Ballet and is now known is one of the hallmarks pieces of the famed New York City Ballet. Meanwhile, in Tarantella Balanchine celebrates the power of a pas de deux in a piece celebrated for its complicated dance steps and lively attitude. An unmissable program!
